I held my sister a baby shower. The theme was Girl Vs Boy since we don’t know the sex of the baby yet! I got loads of ideas from pinterest, however adapted all the recipes so that they were vegan, we have a lot of allergies in our family! I was particularly pleased with the cake in the jar’s as I have never done anything like that before.
I visited the Chelsea Flower Show for the first time, I loved it! So many beautiful things to see and lovely little shops.
I haven’t updated in a long time, so here is a bit of a back log, here are some treats that I made at christmas!
I’m mentioned in the Guardian

Last Wednesday I attended the ‘Futerra Swish’. Futerra are a sustainable graphics company that my friend works for. They invented Swishing a number of years ago. You bring 3 or 4 items of clothing (good quality), lay them out/hang them up, then have lovely drinks and nibbles. After being given the opportunity to have a proper look and try things on they announce the Swush ‘open’ and you can just take whatever you want!
When I was there I was interviewed by someone at the Guardian and featured in their article! You can see it here:

Bunting
Saturday afternoon has seemed to become the regular craft slot in our flat. We have just moved into a new place and it is surrounded by fabric shops. I love sewing, but haven’t had much time until now to do it just for fun. My flat mate really wanted to learn so this Saturday afternoon I directed her on how to make bunting. She was amazing.

The finished article:

Last week I went to Royal Albert Hall to sing carols with the Salvation Army. It was spectacular.
New Home
I have just moved into my new flat in West London. This is very exciting as it means I can actually decorate my room. Previously at university I never bothered. Because I did alot of design work in my room it would stress me out having things up on the walls.
I’ve been reading alot of home blogs to get ideas and this is one I’ve stolen:

Here is my diy twist on a chalk board calendar for my room:
-I bought 7 cheap black frames from pound land
-I purchased a tub of blackboard paint

I then used white acrylic paint and a stencil to finish them off:

I’ve not yet put them up on the walls ( need nails and a hammer!) but will post when I do!
I baked vegan cupcakes to celebrate the purchase of my new cup cake holders. They were delicious - I made up the recipe from a non egg chocolate cake I had but made it vanilla!
In the gap between my internship ending and my job beginning I had some days off. This involved going to Westrum, which is full of amazing little tea rooms and craft shops. I decided to treat myself for getting a job so bought these amazing cup cake holders.

I have finally got a job. What a lovely relief. I am now an account executive for the design company that I was interning with. It’s really exciting to finally be getting paid and be able to get stuck into a job again. I will be focusing on new business, current clients, project managing small projects and pr/marketing/social media. It is very daunting and since it is a new role I’m not sure what to expect - just need to remember to trust God.
I think if you work everyday in the city it’s really important to get away at the weekends. This Saturday I took a trip to Brighton - haven’t been there since I was young. The sun came out in the morning and it was amazing to lie on a warm beach. By the afternoon it was all over and the rain came down - didn’t stop it being a great day.
I don’t have nice hands*. It is well known that children wouldn’t hold my hands at school in the line and the title ‘Old lady hands’ has become their common name. Therefore I tend to avoid nail polish, rings, etc that would bring more attention to the over -aged, eczema tarnished features at the end of my wrists. However, today I went into boots and decided to give it a go. My hands are in front of me typing all day, why not bless them with some colour.
I went on the hunt of a mustard colour, barry m had none, so I came away with brown and black [not sure about the black - still scarred from my grunger days my my flat mate always wears it and it looks divine]. Check it out… who knows maybe I’ll even purchase some rings as a trial run…
*I have nice hands that are currently in an extended unattractive experience.
Last night I went for dinner and drinks in Southbank. They have transformed this part of the city into a beach scene, with sand, bunting and beach huts. It looked amazing and totally changed the familiar skyline.
On Friday I went to the see my friend’s band David’s Lyre preform at the Silver Bullet in Finsbury Park. It was a pretty low key show compared to some of his I’ve been to before - I think he is doing a series of warm up shows to get his new drummer into the swing of things. The band were great and it was nice to see friends.
